Music That’s Caught My Brain 4/13/20

I think this is a new weekly segment.

I’ve been so terribly neglectful of musical discovery. Once upon a time I had a nature to discover new sound (new to me, the year a song is released is irrelevant to my enjoyment) and then that inclination just sort of faded.

Because of isolation, all sorts of music is making it’s way to me and I am grateful. I forgot to mention, my first song for this segment, Nocturama, I actually discovered through the show Ragnarok on Netflix. I devoured that show. I highly recommend it. The show is generous with their use of M83 music, decidedly a bonus. The soundtrack throughout the series is incredible and, like Nocturama, is the source for my song this week:

Forbidden Fruit by Hallway Swimmers, Twisted Love.

[Oh bugger, forgot to include the lyrics (Mondays, am I right?)]:

You don’t know the feelings you brought out of me
Opened up the cage and set my spirit free
It was only once but I can tell
Just remembering the way it felt in my head
A dream in a dream

You were a forbidden fruit and I had hungry eyes
Watching the way you move under the neon nights
You were a forbidden fruit, somebody else’s fight
But I still think of you when I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night

Driving home, these images run through my mind
(Run through my mind)
Wishing I could go back to that place and time
(That place and time)
To that fatefull night when we first met
With the taste of you still on my lips
It was wrong but, oh, it felt so right

You were a forbidden fruit and I had hungry eyes
Watching the way you move under the neon nights
You were a forbidden fruit, somebody else’s fight
But I still think of you when I’m alone at night
You were a forbidden fruit and I had hungry eyes
Watching the way you move under the neon nights
You were a forbidden fruit, somebody else’s fight
But I still think of you when I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night

You were a forbidden fruit and I had hungry eyes
Watching the way you move under the neon nights
You were a forbidden fruit, somebody else’s fight
But I still think of you when I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night
When I’m alone at night

Hope I provided some distraction for your day. Feel free to share your current musical discoveries! Cheers.

Yours in Quarantine,
