Music: You Don’t Know How It Feels by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

MUSIC is a segment that features a song that’s caught my brain.

The more I put myself out there, the more this verse comes to mind:
Think of me what you will /
I’ve got a little space to fill

I make videos for YouTube and occasionally turn out an erotic poem for WordPress. Folks will think of me what they will and most of it, astonishingly, positive. As for the negative, well, I do have a little space for that…should I care to recall where said space can be found. It’s here somewhere, I’m sure of that. *shrugs*

You could live the most mundane, straight laced of lives and somebody somewhere would still frown in disapproval. All the more reason to carry on as yourself, no one else is qualified.

Lyrics, “You Don’t Know How It Feels” by Tom Petty (& The Heartbreakers). Album, Wildflowers.

[Verse 1]
Let me run with you tonight
I’ll take you on a moonlight ride
There’s someone I used to see
But she don’t give a damn for me

[Chorus 1]
But let me get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I’m too alone to be proud
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me

[Verse 2]
People come, people go
Some grow young, some grow cold
I woke up in between
A memory and a dream

[Chorus 2]
So let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And let’s head on down the road, there’s somewhere I gotta go
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me

[Verse 3]
My old man was born to rock
He’s still tryin’ to beat the clock
Think of me what you will
I’ve got a little space to fill

[Chorus 2]
So let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And let’s head on down the road, there’s somewhere I gotta go
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels
No, you don’t know how it feels to be me
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels
No, you don’t know how it feels to be me

    1. That’s the thing…even if he was trying to “be cool,” he never came off that way. Petty had that take-me-as-I-am quality that others in the music industry would pay good money for (and do, but still can’t achieve). Thanks, Eclectic!
