depths (a poem)

i am a lot to love
i want too much
mayhap, i know my worth
and you can’t cut the check

you wouldn’t know depths
if you were drowning

cheap voice
cheap words
littered, trampled trinkets
strewn across the sandy gift shop

did you know?
that’s where the exit is

i’ve gone deep diving
if i need to find you
i know where to look
shallow pools are easy to spot
